On May the 11th, 2012, American automotive legend Carrol Hall Shelby passed away at age 89. He was the man behind many of the world’s most iconic muscle cars, such as the Mustang Shelby GT500. He became famous as a driver for various racing teams, and became part of history when in 1959 he won the 24 hours of Le Mans on an Aston Martin DBR1. He then created the legendary AC Cobra, based on an English car by AC Motors but with a powerful Ford engine. He gave the best while working with Ford on the iconic GT350 and GT500. His racing team used one of the greatest American cars of all time, the Ford GT40. He also worked for Dodge before coming back to Ford to make the modern iteration of the GT500.
